What is the Hummingbird Program?
The Hummingbird Program Starbucks Japan
The Hummingbird Program was launched in 2012 with the message that “all of the small things that each of us can do, when added up, will become a great power.” The Hummingbird Program began as an educational support program for children who were orphaned by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and has been providing learning support for young people and children who are experiencing financial difficulties.

This year, the program will provide opportunities for children to experience different activities hands-on.
Childhood experiences outside of school such as sports, music, camping, and travel are not only said to influence the development of non-cognitive skills such as self-esteem and perseverance, but are also important opportunities for children to develop connections with a variety of other people. Out-of-school experiences are important for children to find their identity and grow up healthy. However, a survey conducted by Chance for Children (CFC) has found that there is an “experience gap” in which children do not have any out-of-school experiences throughout the year due to various family circumstances.

How to Participate
You can participate in this program by issuing a new Starbucks® Hummingbird card or by using an eligible Starbucks® Hummingbird card. Starbucks® Rewards” and donate your accumulated Star online, so you can easily participate whenever and wherever you feel like it. Donations from this program will be used to support CFC's programs that provide experiences for children.
